Today our business revolves around our Mastercam and Unigraphics software. R&G Dean achieved ISO9001 accreditation in 1997.

Hawker De Haviland

Produced tooling for the McDonald Douglas MD90 airliner project, and the McDonald Douglas Explorer helicopter.

Cochlear

Produced titanium pressing for their Bionic ear, along with numerous machined titanium components. All of Cochlear’s work is highly intricate, requiring a high degree of precision and surface finish.
We are one of Cochlear’s oldest suppliers.

Ventracor

Produced all prototypes for the implantable Left Ventricular Assist Device (artifical heart). This led to manufacture of production units, and further culminated in R&G Dean designing and setting up of a purpose built facility to manufacture the titanium pump components for sale in Europe and the USA. Ventracor approached numerous engineering firms during this project, with R&G dean being the only company capable of producing clinical grade units suitable for human implant.

We can proudly boast R&G Dean set up a world class facility producing large volumes at 10% of the original production costs, a facility capable of being run by semi-skilled labour. Tolerances of these components are measured in microns, with one 3D surface requiring a tolerance of +-0.005mm. The facility housed all production equipment in a tightly climate controlled environment.
Ventracor
  • R & G Dean were contracted to mass manufacture parts for the VentrAssist ventricular assist device for Ventracor Limited.  I had almost daily dealings with R&G Dean in my capacity as Chief Mechanical Engineer of Ventracor.  I was impressed at the way Deans approached this very demanding job - including implementing exacting thermal management of their milling machines to allow very tight (micron) tolerances to be met in the machining of Titanium alloys and implementation of Quality Management systems and CAD/CAM facilities.

Proteome Systems

R&G Dean were involved in the machining of components for the clinical protein testing equipment. We produced a large number of intricate components in a variety of materials from nylon through to stainless steel.
Proteome Systems
  • Working with Proteome Systems as a Logistics  Manager was not an easy task.  Setting up their Part Numbering and Part Description System was challenging but not as challenging as making the Navision MRP System work in that complicated environment. But once done, it has been easy especially if you are dealing with suppliers that you can trust. RG Dean is one of the most professional yet down to earth company I have ever dealt with. In my 22 years experience in manufacturing sector  in Australia, I can only recommend maybe a handful of companies that are a pleasure to work with and one of them is RG Dean. They just have that built-in excellent customer service, quality mind set and an open minded approach in solving problems. That is why is I am still dealing with them will deal with them in the future.

Oceanlinx

In late December 2009 we were approached by Oceanlinx to produce a wave energy turbine that utilized air compressed by wave power to produce electricity. We had 3 months from being supplied concept drawings to deliver a detailed design CAD model and precision machine the components for the finished turbine. The unit was delivered in March 2010 and successfully delivered power into the electricity grid in the 3 months the trial lasted.
Oceanlinx
  • In late 2009 we approached Ross Dean manufacture our first of a kind wave energy turbine. With tight time constraints and no precedents Ross Dean and his team wasted no time in throwing everything they had at it to help us meet our targets. Many people thought we had no chance to build this turbine, both on time and on budget but we did. I would like to thank Ross for helping us achieve these targets and without him it would not have been possible.

Prototyping

We undertake a wide variety of prototyping jobs. This disinfection chamber that was machined from a solid billet of high strength aluminium alloy measuring 470mm x 330mm x 75mm. This part had a wall section of only 3mm yet needed a high degree of surface finish.
10 of these parts were produced in a short lead time for testing.

The Tripod stand was designed & manufactured by us to hold a Radar warning unit, radio transmission unit, flashing light & siren. It was required to be quickly erected, sturdy & yet fold up to be transported in a regular vehicle. When deployed it stood 3.3 meters high.
